Clayton Family Scholarship for Studies in Powder Metallurgy
In 1998 CPMT received a $1,000,000 donation from Arlan J. Clayton to establish an endowment fund for research & development and education programs to help promote the growth and success of the conventional powder metallurgy industry. Since 2000, CPMT has awarded over 175 students more than $575,000 in scholarships. In 2026, the scholarship awards were changed to conference grants to provide greater exposure of the PM industry to students.
Axel Madsen Conference Grants
The Axel Madsen Conference Grant Program was established by his family in 1990 to encourage students to learn more about PM technology and pursue careers in the PM industry. Axel Madsen was well-known in the PM industry as a successful entrepreneur. He co-founded Allied Sinterings, Inc., Danbury, CT, in 1959. The company began in a converted diner with four employees and went on to develop a successful niche business producing high-precision, small, and intricate PM parts. Madsen was a creative toolmaker and an expert on high-precision PM parts.
Howard I. Sanderow Scholarship Fund
