WorldPM2026 Program & Registration!

The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has announced that the WorldPM2026 program is now available online. Running June 25–29 in Montréal, WorldPM2026 brings together WorldPM, AMPM and Tungsten conferences to showcase the latest in powder metallurgy, metal additive manufacturing and particulate materials. The online program includes the full schedule, keynote details, oral and poster technical sessions, awards, and exhibitor listings—plus registration, hotel and visa information.

MIM2026 Concludes in Jacksonville

The international conference for MIM—metal injection molding; CIM—ceramic injection molding; and CCIM— cemented carbide recently concluded in Jacksonville, Florida. The conference featured 18 technical presentations and a dozen commercial presentations by industry service providers.

 

MIM Cartridge Cases to Hit the Market

Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has licensed its patented metal injection molded (MIM) ammunition technology marking a major step toward commercial production. First developed with the U.S. Army in 2014, CTC produced initial MIM cartridge case prototypes in 2016 and refined the design over a decade, earning two U.S. patents in 2023.

ASU Discovers New Ways to Print Porous Structures

Arizona State University researchers have developed a method to 3D print microscale, nanoporous copper structures that expand the capabilities of metal additive manufacturing. Led by Assistant Professor Xiangfan Chen and Associate Professor Bruno Azeredo in the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks, the team combined high-resolution micro continuous liquid interface production (µCLIP) with engineered nanoporous copper powders to lower sintering temperatures and accelerate printing.

Robins AFB AM Lab Boosts Air Force Readiness

Robins Air Force Base’s small but advanced additive manufacturing team at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex is strengthening Air Force readiness by rapidly producing hard-to-source aircraft parts. The 402nd Commodities Maintenance Group’s Reverse Engineering, Additive, Design and Inspection (READI) Lab combines reverse engineering, 3D printing and specialized engineering services to sustain legacy platforms including the C-130, C-5, C-17, B-1, B-52, KC-135 and F-15.

MIM & AM Considered for Drones

The U.S. Air Force has awarded a prototype contract to Honeywell covering the design of a lightweight engine for autonomous aircraft. The design will be an evolution of the company’s new small-thrust-class engine, the SkyShot 1600. Honeywell says a significant percentage of the materials in the engine can be made using additive manufacturing or produced with high-volume manufacturing techniques like metal injection molding, allowing engines to be built quickly and reducing the risk of supply chain failures.

Xinjiang Hao, principal scientist, Globus Metal Powders Ltd, Middlesbrough, UK, has been awarded a Fellowship by the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3). The IOM3 Fellowship is intended to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution or established a record of achievement in the fields of materials, minerals and mining.

 

Company News

6K Additive, Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, announced a global long‑term supply agreement with Siemens Energy to supply spent nickel alloy powder from Siemens additive manufacturing facilities to 6K Additive for use as feedstock in the company's microwave plasma production system. This agreement enables the reuse of nickel‑based superalloy revert material that would otherwise remain in low‑value recycling streams.
