Producing Low Energy, Green Raw Materials with Advanced Technology

The Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT) recently supported an Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) meeting at the University of Utah. During this meeting professors and students presented the latest developments in their project “Producing Steel Directly from Iron Ore Concentrate” using a hydrogen reduction melt-less steelmaking (HRMLES) process. Participants were also treated to a tour of the facility and witnessed the process in action.

CPMT is a partner in this project providing industry insight and evaluation of the material that has been produced.
