MPIF Digital Library Launched

A new resource has been launched by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) for the benefit of the entire powder metallurgy (PM) industry—the MPIF Digital Library. This new benefit contains thousands of technical manuscripts from MPIF technical conferences dating back to 1946 in a completely searchable database.

Registration Opens for 2019 Metal Injection Molding Conference

Registration has opened for MIM2019: International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides—the only international powder and metal injection molding conference of the year. MIM2019 is a global conference and tabletop exhibition that highlights advances in the powder injection molding (PIM) industry. The conference will take place in Orlando, Florida, at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, February 25–27, 2019.

Save the date and plan to join the powder metallurgy (PM) and metal additive manufacturing (AM) industry in Phoenix, Arizona, June 23–26, 2019, for POWDERMET2019, the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, and the co-located conference AMPM2019, Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy. This year’s program is currently under development, but already an exciting program is lining up.

2018 EPMA PM Component Award Winners Announced

The European Powder Metallurgy Association has announced the winners for its prestigious annual PM Component Awards. The awards coincided with the Euro PM2018 Congress & Exhibition in Bilbao, Spain, October 14–18, 2018.

2018 JPMA Component Awards

The Japanese Powder Metallurgy Association (JPMA) has announced the winners of the JPMA Component Awards. The program began in 1979 to aid in the dissemination of PM as an innovative technology.

Return of the Robotics & Automation in Powder Metallurgy Seminar

For the first time in over a decade, the Robotics & Automation in Powder Metallurgy Seminar will return to highlight ways to help your plant eliminate waste, improve quality and productivity, and streamline labor usage. Join over a dozen speakers December 11–12, 2018, at the Penn Stater Conference Center, State College, Pennsylvania. The advance rate registration deadline is November 2.

PM Sintering Seminar Concludes

This year's Powder Metallurgy Sintering Seminar, held September 25–26 in State College, Pennsylvania, was another rousing success. The seminar attracted over 65 attendees with backgrounds and experience levels ranging from entry level to experienced, and over half of the attendees reported being involved in engineering. Award Announced for AMPM2018 Best Paper

A special Task Force of MPIF Technical Board members met and selected, “Using Light and Electron Microscopy, Computed Tomography, and Light Scattering to Evaluate Additive Manufacturing Powders and Parts” by Thomas F. Murphy, FAPMI, Christopher T. Schade and Alexander D. Zwiren, Hoeganaes Corporation as the recipient of the AMPM2018 Best Paper Award from among the submitted manuscripts of the conference Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy 2018 (AMPM2018) held in San Antonio this past June.

MPIF & APMI Award-Winning Papers Announced

The 2018 Howard I. Sanderow Outstanding Technical Paper Award has been selected from among the highly qualified manuscripts that were presented at the POWDERMET2018 conference in San Antonio. The manuscripts are critically evaluated by the MPIF Technical Board. This year’s winning paper is "Monitoring of Powder Homogeneity During Double-Cone Blending" by Alex Wartenberg, Sierra Mirtes, and Chris Schade, Hoeganaes Corporation, and Sarah Ackermann, C-Therm Technologies Incorporated.

Mass Manufacturing with HP’s Metal Jet

Earlier this week, tech giant HP, Inc., launched HP Metal Jet, their first metal additive manufacturing (AM) machine for the mass manufacturing of production-grade metal parts. Volkswagen will be among the first companies to receive functional metal parts for the automotive industry. HP claims the machine is up to 50 times more productive than other binder jet and selective laser melting AM methods.

POWDERMET2019 Call for Papers Announced

An official call for papers and posters has been announced for POWDERMET2019, International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, to be held June 23–26, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona. This leading North American powder metallurgy (PM) conference will take place at the Sheraton Grand in the heart of the city.
