
Richard (Rick) Ricchi, technical specialist, General Motors Corporation (GM), Warren, Michigan, has been selected to receive the Vanguard Award from the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF).

Lockheed Martin has qualified its first complex metal additive manufactured (AM) piece of hardware for spaceflight. The hardware, an omnidirectional antenna for communication relay, has been integrated onto a GPS III satellite.

The 2023 Fellow Award recipient will receive elevation to Fellow status at PowderMet2023, during the Opening General Session on Monday, June 19, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2023 recipient is Christopher T. Schade, Vice President of Advanced Materials, Hoeganaes Corporation.

The Metal Powder Industries Federation's (MPIF) Awards Committee has announced the recipients of the 2023 MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy (PM) Award that recognizes individuals who have actively served the North American PM industry for at least 25 years and, in the minds of their peers, deserve special recognition.

Researchers from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, have developed a method of imprinting a hidden magnetic tag—encoded with authentication information—within manufactured hardware via metal AM. The process is expected to replace physical tags, like QR or barcodes, with imprinted tags to reduce counterfeiting.
