Las Vegas Welcomes the PM Industry Continues

The powder metallurgy (PM) industry was the brightest light on the famous Las Vegas Strip during PowderMet2023 and AMPM2023 at Caesars Palace. During the Opening General Session APMI International and the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) honored several distinguished members of the PM community.


2023 Conference Co-Chairs

APMI Elevates Christopher Schade to Fellow  

APMI President Robert Hayes (right), Phoenix Sintered Metals LLC, introduced the 2023 APMI Fellow, Christopher Schade, FAPMI, Hoeganaes Corporation. Chris is an accomplished member of the PM community, his experience is a combination of manufacturing, research, and education.  He received the MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award in 2019.

2023 Outstanding Poster Award Announced  

MPIF Executive Director/CEO James P. Adams (left) presents award to Gabrielle Laramée, and co-authors Denis Mutel, Simon Gélinas, and Carl Blais, Laval University, for the 2023 Outstanding Poster Award for “Rheological Characterization of Water Atomized Powders Developed for LPBF by Unsupervised Machine Learning” at PowderMet2023 and AMPM2023. Distinguished Service to PM and Vanguard Recipients Recognized

Chairman of the MPIF Awards Committee, Michael Lutheran, Royal Metal Powders, Inc., and MPIF President Rodney Brennen, Metco Industries, Inc., presented the MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award at PowderMet2023. The Award recognizes individuals who have devoted 25 or more years of their career to powder metallurgy and particulate materials. The 2023 recipients included:

Michael Lutheran also presented the PM Vanguard Award, a special and rare award that recognizes industry champions from end-user companies and organizations who have contributed to the expansion of PM applications, to Richard (Rick) Ricchi, General Motors Corporation.
