BestMetal Corporation, Woodstock, Ill., has completed the purchase of Wakefield Corporation, a long-established, family-owned powder metallurgy fabricator located in Wakefield, Mass. Following the sale, which closed in November 2011, the manufacturing assets of the acquired company, including tooling and presses currently housed in Wakefield’s 44,000-square-foot factory, are now in the process of being relocated to BestMetal’s Midwest facility.

Ametek Specialty Metal Products, Wallingford, Conn., announces the availability of a range of high-purity sputtering target materials fabricated using its patented Pneumatic Isostatic Forging (PIF) consolidation technology. According to the company, this process provides fine grain, homogenous, fully dense material with purity levels as high as 99.995%.
