MPIF Announces 2020 Design Excellence Award Winners

Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) is pleased to announce the MPIF 2020 Powder Metallurgy Design Excellence award winners! All winners will be announced in a series of 3 videos over the next couple of weeks.

COVID-19 Impact on PM Manufacturing

WorldPM2020 Cancelled

The first case of coronavirus was first reported in the U.S. in Washington state on January 21, 2020. Since then state and federal governments have been placing restrictions on individuals and businesses resulting in the closure of manufacturing facilities across the country on a state-by-state basis. On March 18, the voluntary closure of North American automaker factories, including Ford, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, Honda and Toyota, was announced through at least the end of March.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Randall M. German, FAPMI

Dr. Randall (Rand) German, FAPMI, founder of German Materials Technology, has been selected to receive the Kempton H. Roll Powder Metallurgy (PM) Lifetime Achievement Award by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF). The award will be presented during WorldPM2020, World Congress on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, in Montreal, Canada, at the Opening General Session on Sunday, June 28.

Technical Program Underway for Largest Global PM Event

The Technical Program Committees for the largest global powder metallurgy event of the year, WorldPM2020, AMPM2020 and Tungsten2020, met recently to assemble the program for the June 27–July 1 co-located conferences in Montréal. Nearly 115 industry experts met to review abstracts.

Tungsten, Refractory & Hardmaterials Call for Papers

The Tungsten, Refractory & Hardmaterials Conference is seeking papers covering the numerous developments that have taken place since it was last held in conjunction with WorldPM2014, World Congress on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials. Montréal, Canada, is gearing up to host the Tungsten2020 conference, alongside two additional co-located powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing conferences, at the Montréal Convention Center on June 27–July 1, 2020. The abstract submission deadline is November 15, 2019.
