METCO Industries, Inc. - Product Development Manager

Metco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Product Development Manager.  This role will primarily be responsible for the management of engineering new powder metal components, coordinating the development and management of the engineering staff to ensure successful launches.  Metallurgical knowledge within the powder metal manufacturing field is a plus.  In addition, the following abilities are desirable for this position.

Job Qualifications:

• Engineering degree with a minimum of ten years of experience within the powder metal field.
• Prior staff management experience while working in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience designing and developing powder metal components.
• Project launch management skills utilizing Gantt charts, gate reviews and APQP tools.
• Out of the box thinking skills to problem solve and develop new methodologies.
• Modeling experience to provide a 3D printed example of the component.
• Hands on experience with secondary processes, machining, grinding, heat treating, plating and coatings.

Responsibilities:

• Review new parts that are currently designed for powder metal and communicate with sales any potential issues with the design.
• Redesign non powder metal components working with the customer to ensure a robust component with capability can be manufactured. 
• Review customer requirements, develop the process within the requirements and cross-check the finished process.
• Manage the weekly APQP/Product Launch meetings and maintain the sample/prototype system.
• Communicate with engineering staff to ensure the team has clear direction and support throughout all development stages.
• Review the timelines, communicate with internal departments and direct staff to contact support secondary services to ensure on-time launches.
• Assist with removing roadblocks that may impede robust product development or timely delivery of the component.
• Monitor first time production success after PPAP approval and manufacturing handoff.
• Provide product development status updates to senior management.
