APMI International's most prestigious award recognizes APMI members for their significant contributions to the goals, purpose, and mission of the organization as well as for a high level of expertise in the technology, practice, or business of the industry. The 2019 Fellow Award recipients will receive elevation to Fellow status at POWDERMET2019: International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials during the Industry Luncheon on Tuesday, June 25. The 2019 recipients are Joseph Tunick Strauss and John L. Johnson.
A Collection of Powder Characterization Standards for Metal Additive Manufacturing contains nine existing MPIF Standard Test Methods can be applicable for the characterization of powders used in metal additive manufacturing (AM) processes, with an explanation of each standard. These standards, intended to present and clarify PM technology as an aid in conducting business, relate to those activities that concern designers, manufacturers, and users of metal AM parts.
A new resource has been launched by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) for the benefit of the entire powder metallurgy (PM) industry—the MPIF Digital Library. This new benefit contains thousands of technical manuscripts from MPIF technical conferences dating back to 1946 in a completely searchable database.
Registration has opened for MIM2019: International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides—the only international powder and metal injection molding conference of the year. MIM2019 is a global conference and tabletop exhibition that highlights advances in the powder injection molding (PIM) industry. The conference will take place in Orlando, Florida, at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, February 25–27, 2019.
A special Task Force of MPIF Technical Board members met and selected, “Using Light and Electron Microscopy, Computed Tomography, and Light Scattering to Evaluate Additive Manufacturing Powders and Parts” by Thomas F. Murphy, FAPMI, Christopher T. Schade and Alexander D. Zwiren, Hoeganaes Corporation as the recipient of the AMPM2018 Best Paper Award from among the submitted manuscripts of the conference Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy 2018 (AMPM2018) held in San Antonio this past June.
