Las Vegas Welcomes the PM Industry

The powder metallurgy (PM) industry was the brightest light on the famous Las Vegas Strip during PowderMet2023 and AMPM2023 at Caesars Palace. Seven hundred delegates from 25 countries took part in technical presentations, special interest programs, and the largest PM exhibit in the Americas. The sold-out trade exhibition featured companies showcasing top products, goods, and services. The annual poster display was robust thanks to 61 students that received conference grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT) and MPIF.

The conference began June 18 with the 17th Annual APMI International Golf Tournament, followed by the Opening Reception where old and new colleagues gathered to renew acquaintances and welcome the student grant recipients.

During the Opening General Session, MPIF Executive Director/CEO James Adams welcomed delegates and encouraged them to take advantage of everything the conferences had to offer - participate, interact, and start discussions during the over 200 technical presentations.

MPIF President Rodney Brennen, President of Metco Industries, Inc., provided an overview of the current state of the PM industry in North America. “We must respond to the changing needs of existing and potential customers within the automotive, electrical, energy, aerospace, medical, defense, industrial, and consumer markets,” Brennen stated. “As an industry, we need to showcase our strengths and work together to advance the PM technology. We need to invest in R&D to create new applications and uses for metal powders and PM parts.” Read the complete report at State of the PM Industry in North America—2023.

Keynote Sandy Gennaro provided an inspirational presentation reaffirming that anything is possible if you think positively while working to be the best person that you can be. Country Music Singer/Songwriter Rodney Atkins provided an intimate acoustic set during the Closing Event.

Another unforgettable PM conference is in the books. MPIF now has its sights on PowderMet2024 and AMPM2024, June 16-29, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! The Call for Papers and Posters is now open. Visit PowderMet2024.org for more details. Watch this video.
