WorldPM2026 and AMPM2026 Outstanding Technical Papers Awarded

The MPIF Technical Board has completed its review of the highly qualified manuscripts presented at the WorldPM2026 and AMPM2026 conferences in Montreal, selecting two outstanding papers for the organization’s prestigious technical paper awards.

The 2026 Howard I. Sanderow Outstanding Technical Paper Award has been awarded to Nitrogen Content and Martensite Formation in Powder Metallurgy 12%Cr Steels by Alice Robinson and David Dye of Imperial College London, and David Stewart and Paul Taplin of Rolls-Royce plc. This award recognizes exceptional technical achievement and meaningful contributions to the advancement of powder metallurgy. The Sanderow award-winning paper is available for free download.

The 2026 Metal Additive Manufacturing Outstanding Technical Paper Award has been awarded to Implementation of Rapid Fatigue Testing to Evaluate the Effect of Defects and Specimen Thickness on the Fatigue and Fracture Properties of PBF-L/M AlSi10Mg by M. Bemani, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, along with D. Frómeta, S. Parareda, D. Casellas, A. Mateo, R. Das, and A. Molotnikov. This paper was selected for its valuable insights into fatigue and fracture behavior in metal additive manufacturing. The Metal AM award-winning paper is also available for free download.

Both award-winning papers will be published in their respective conference proceedings: Advances in Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials—2026 and Advances in Metal Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy—2026.

The authors will be recognized during PowderMet2027 and AMPM2027, June 20–23, in Buffalo.
