Montreal was the perfect backdrop for the World Congress! Attracting delegates from 32 countries reinforced the need for the international powder metallurgy to come together on a biennial basis. The delegates represented all facets of metal powder technology, setting the stage for innovation and collaboration in our industry. From MPIF President Chris Adam, FAPMI, PMT, VALIMET, Inc., providing the State of the North American PM Industry report to Keynote Speaker Eric Baril, National Research Council of Canada, to the Prime Time Event Cirque de Montreal: An Evening of Enchantment, we pushed the boundaries of powder metallurgy!

The conference kicked off on June 25 with the Welcoming Reception. Colleagues, both old and new, came together to connect, rekindle friendships, and celebrate the student conference grant recipients from the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT) and MPIF.

During the Opening General Session, MPIF Executive Director/CEO James Adams welcomed the delegates and urged them to fully engage with the event. He encouraged participation, interaction, and the initiation of discussions during the 300 technical presentations.

During the Global Trends report, MPIF’s Chris Adam, EPMA’s Adeline Riou, and APMA’s Chiu-Lung Chu offered insights into the current state of the global PM industry. "The global PM industry is navigating what can best be described as a period of “glorious uncertainty,” driven by political upheaval, trade disruptions, technological shifts, sustainability challenges, and geopolitical conflict” noted Adam. “These forces are reshaping metal powder technologies, including conventional press-and-sinter PM, metal injection molding (MIM), and metal additive manufacturing (AM)." In addition to Keynote Speaker Eric Baril, Fabrice Bernier, National Research Council of Canada, and Mathieu Brochu, McGill University, provided the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in magnets and additive manufacturing.
