St. Marys Dutch Manufacturing Students' Create U.S. Flag Coin

Students from St. Marys Area High School’s Dutch Manufacturing (DM) program have partnered with the Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties (CEC), and the Elk County Commissioners to design and produce “The U.S. Flag Coin” in celebration of America’s 250th birthday in 2026.

Production was sponsored by the Elk County Commissioners, with local companies—Metco Industries, Advantage Metal Powders, St. Marys Tool & Die and Ion Technologies—donating materials and services.

Dutch Manufacturing, founded in 2022, is a student-led program focused on advanced manufacturing skills that prepare students for careers, apprenticeships and post-secondary education. The group has previously produced “The Smile Coin” and “The 988 Coin,” the latter earning statewide recognition.

The U.S. Flag Coin reflects both patriotic pride and the strength of local collaboration, uniting students, artists, industry leaders and public officials to create a lasting commemorative keepsake for the nation’s 250th birthday.
