Pennsylvania High School Students Manufacturing Video Contest

Educating high school students about advanced manufacturing, like powder metallurgy, is playing a vital role in strengthening workforce development across Northern Pennsylvania. Recently, students from six counties gathered in Elk County to present specialized video projects highlighting local manufacturing careers and technology. The initiative connected students from Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, Cameron, McKean, and Potter counties with regional businesses, giving them firsthand exposure to advanced production environments and innovation in today’s facilities.

Over several months, students collaborated with manufacturers to create videos showcasing daily operations, emerging technologies, and career pathways. The experience provided practical skills in interviewing, communication, and professional engagement, while reinforcing the breadth of opportunities available close to home, particularly in PM manufacturing.

Workforce leaders emphasized that such programs encourage students to envision long-term careers within their communities. By reshaping perceptions of manufacturing and demonstrating its technological sophistication, the project highlights how early industry engagement can inspire students to pursue education, training, and meaningful careers in their local economy.
