Process Engineering Technician
Department: Production
Reports To: Materials and Process Engineering Manager or Technology Manager, as Assigned
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary:
The Engineering Technician supports powder manufacturing operations by assisting with process development, equipment operation, troubleshooting, quality investigations, data collection, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable powder production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with operation and monitoring of powder production equipment, including:
o Atomization systems
o Melting Furnaces
o Powder classification equipment
o Screening and blending systems
o Packaging
- Support production trials and process development activities.
- Collect and record process data during production runs.
- Assist engineers with:
o Equipment upgrades
o Process optimization projects
o Capital improvement projects
o Design verification activities
- Create and Update:
o Work instructions
o Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
o Process flow diagrams
- Collect and analyze production data
Requirements and Skills:
- Five years applicable engineering-based experience (mechanical, manufacturing, metallurgical, materials science), or a combination of education and applicable experience.
- Strong analytical skills with respect to engineering design and problem solving.
- Ability to apply technical skills to metal powder processing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong and effective communication skills including the following areas: oral, written, and group presentations. Must be able to communicate and train any number of persons concerning technical processes and applications.
- High ethical standards, dependability, strategic thinking and high initiative guide all work with a focus on safety, security, and quality in all tasks.
- Proficient in English, both oral and written
-Must be a US Citizen or have authorization to work in the US. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, simple grasping with both hands, and typing/writing.
- Perform work on a computer/equipment for prolonged periods of time, multiple times a day.
- Work in both a typical office environment and outside the office in an industrial plant.
- Prolonged exposure to high temperature areas, working in multiple-story locations and exposure to all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
