Privacy Policy and Pledge
The Metal Powder Industries Federation, APMI International, and Center for
Powder Metallurgy Technology are, respectively, a corporate membership trade association, a
professional society, and a research and development consortium, all providing the powder
metallurgy and particulate materials industries and marketplace with services and in roles
generally consistent with the familiar use of those kinds of organizations in the United
States. This statement discloses the privacy practices for the entire website. This policy
is intended to disclose our policies and demonstrate our commitment to your
privacy to the extent we have control of onward transfer.
Information this site Gathers/Tracks
Our site automatically captures IP addresses and cookie IDs. We keep a record
on our server if a user knowingly provides information such as: first and last name,
postal address, e-mail address, daytime phone number, company name, title and fax number.
We also capture data of both a demographic and subject matter interest through
"registration" to our online searchable database. MPIF and its associated
organizations assume that those individuals who provide information offer it
willingly, giving it for its reasonable use of that data in promoting trade and networking
opportunities between those practitioners or parties interested in the use and promotion
of powder metallurgy and particulate material technology. Most of the information offered
is assumed to be information about the visitor and his company in a professional capacity.Information about individuals who are members of APMI International is intended for
the use of other members or companies that are promoting their firms for a related (to
PM) professional purpose only.
Use of the Information this site Gathers/Tracks
We use the information that we gather for several purposes:
To register individuals interested in obtaining additional printed information on the PM
process and firms associated with this manufacturing technology.
To develop direct mail and e-mail distribution lists to aid firms and organizations
related to or part of the PM field, to reach interested parties through direct mail and
e-mail promotional campaigns. These lists may in some cases be sold to PM-related firms with
an interest in promoting themselves to the "marketplace." Some lists are shared
with our member companies on a gratis basis as a benefit of their membership fee.
We also use gathered information to send interested parties our weekly e-mail
newsletter.
Opt-out Policy
If an individual posts information through our registration process, membership in
one of the trade associations or professional society, or by requesting information
from MPIF by e-mail, we will have a record of that contact stored on our server or
one or more dedicated databases within our network. If, however, the individual or company
wishes to have their posting removed, he or she can contact info@mpif.org and make that
request.
Updating Profile
If an APMI International member or other individual associated with our member
firms wishes to make a change in their data they may make those changes via the following: if an APMI
member, following the procedures established for online editing of member profiles; or if
an employee of an MPIF member company, by contacting MPIF through their
"Official Representatives" via info@mpif.org and making a request to change
pertinent data.
Deleting and Deactivation
If a member wishes to be removed from our sites database or databases, he or
she can contact our Webmaster to remove them. Please note that some records may still
persist in our logs.
MPIF will undertake a "best efforts" approach to following the policy as
strictly as possible and to the limits of its control of the data as mentioned above, once
beyond its control.
Online Purchases
MPIF and/or APMI may, with your permission, use your credit card number in order to
provide you with access to information products that you purchase online or to pay
registration fees for meetings, conferences, or professional development programs. It may
also be used to pay annual membership fees at renewal time and only with your permission.
Permission is assumed when you have completed and submitted a registration or membership
renewal form online. Information that we collect is securely stored on our
computers. Credit card transactions take place solely on servers that offer a higher level
of security and employ 128-bit encryption. The transactions are handled by a third-party
financial institution, which receives the credit card number and other personal
identifying information in order to verify the credit card number and process the
transaction. Only authorized MPIF/APMI employees have access to this information, in a
manner consistent with or exceeding financial industry standards.

Security
The security for all personally identifiable information associated
with our guests is of utmost concern to us. We exercise great care in providing secure
transmission of your information from your PC to our servers. Unfortunately, no data
transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we
strive to protect your personal information, MPIF and its related associations can't
ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or provide through our online
products or services, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission,
we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. When credit card information
is transmitted we use industry standard SSL (secure socket layer) encryption.
MPIF & APMI Members
MPIF and APMI International member profiles are password-protected so that only
members can access the profile and view the member information relevant to the account. We
recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Neither MPIF nor APMI will ask
you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or e-mail. Ultimately, you are
responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and any account information.
Your Acceptance of These Terms
By using this site, you signify your assent to the MPIF Privacy Policy. If you do
not agree to this policy, please do not use our sites. Your continued use of the MPIF and
related sites following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those
changes.
