         A.  Conferences, Seminars and E-learning

Student members of APMI International receive information on meetings, seminars, short courses and conferences sponsored by APMI International and/or MPIF.  These events feature experts in PM and particulate materials, and provide opportunities for professional development as a precursor to employment in the PM industry.  In addition, the new MPIF e-learning program offers online courses on various topics of PM. As a student member of APMI International, the professional society for powder metallurgy, you are entitled to low conference/meeting registration fees, as well as discounted registration rates for e-learning courses.        B.  Employment Opportunities

As a recent graduate entering the PM Industry, there is a wide range of challenging job functions. Typical entry-level job titles are: Applications Engineer, Design Engineer, Laboratory Technician, Materials Engineer, Metallurgist, Plant Technician, Process Engineer, Production Engineer, Quality Engineer, R & D Engineer, Sales Engineer and Tool Designer.

       C.  Metallography Contest

Each year, APMI International organizes a metallography competition in conjunction with the annual technical conference.  The grand prize is $1,500 and other individual cash prizes are awarded in each category.  Winners are featured in the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy.  In addition to the five categories (Product/Process Control, Technical Service, Research & Development, and Artistic), there is a Student category.  Click above for additional information on this contest.
