PURPOSE
To recognize innovative PM products, designs, processes and/or materials used in automotive applications.
ADMINISTRATION AND PRESENTATION
The award will be an appropriate certificate which will include a standard citation, the name(s) of the organization(s), which ideally can include the part (end use), and materials and parts producers. The certificate would also include date of the award, and the signatures of the MPIF President and the Executive Director. The presentation shall be made by the President of the Metal Powder Industries Federation at an appropriate function during the Society of Automotive Engineers' Annual Conference and Exposition.
ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS
The cited innovative PM product, process and/or material must be currently in commercial production and successfully functioning in a vehicle for at least six months. It must represent an innovative development in design, materials or processing. It must also have the potential to exert an important impact on automotive design, engineering or production.
This impact can include improved quality, properties, cost savings, vehicle performance, and/or stimulate additional PM automotive applications. The award would be a joint award recognizing the part (end use), materials supplier (powder), equipment or process developed if applicable, and the parts fabricator.
METHOD OF SELECTION
The MPIF Industry Development Board may submit up to three candidates (which may be prioritized and also be PM Design Competition Award winners) to the MPIF Awards Committee with supporting information. Candidates may also be proposed by the MPIF Awards Committee for IDB consideration.
The MPIF Awards Committee will recommend recipient (or recipients) to the MPIF Board of Governors for final approval.
