The 2018 Howard I. Sanderow Outstanding Technical Paper Award has been selected from among the highly qualified manuscripts that were presented at the POWDERMET2018 conference in San Antonio. The manuscripts are critically evaluated by the MPIF Technical Board. This year’s winning paper is "Monitoring of Powder Homogeneity During Double-Cone Blending" by Alex Wartenberg, Sierra Mirtes, and Chris Schade, Hoeganaes Corporation, and Sarah Ackermann, C-Therm Technologies Incorporated.

The 2018 World Congress on Powder Metallurgy, WorldPM2018, will be held September 16–20, 2018, in Beijing, China. WorldPM2018 is a powder metallurgy (PM) industry platform for enhancing industry growth through technology transfer. This is the first World Congress to be held in China.
The winners in the 2018 Powder Metallurgy (PM) Design Excellence Awards competition, sponsored by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), demonstrate outstanding examples of PM’s diversity. This year’s MIM conference was the largest to date, breaking attendance records by more than 15%, with over 180 attendees representing 104 companies from 16 countries. Chad Spore, staff engineer, Enterprise Materials Engineering, John Deere Waterloo Works Drivetrain Operations, Waterloo, Iowa, has been selected to receive the Vanguard Award from the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF). The award recognizes powder metallurgy (PM) industry champions from the end-user community whose long-time promotion of the technology has contributed to the expansion of powder metal applications. Spore is only the second person to receive the award since its inception in 2014.
APMI International's most prestigious award recognizes APMI members for their significant contributions to the goals, purpose, and mission of the organization as well as for a high level of expertise in the technology, practice, or business of the industry. The 2018 Fellow Award recipients will receive elevation to Fellow status at POWDERMET2018: International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials during the Industry Luncheon on June 19. The 2018 recipients are Stephen Mashl and Alberto Molinari.
