Powder Metallurgy Stainless Steels: Processing, Microstructures, and Properties
By Erhard Klar and Prasan Samal
Progress in the understanding of corrosion and corrosion resistance properties of sintered stainless steels has lead to new applications that benefit from net shape processing and more efficient material utilization. The text, extensive graphics, and tabular summaries provide a comprehensive reference to obtain good corrosion resistance properties of sintered stainless steels with careful processing, starting with powder selection, avoidance of contamination, efficient delubrication, and controlled sintering and cooling. Misconceptions and conflicting literature are critically assessed.

Processing and Properties of Ferrous
Powder Metallurgy Materials:
A Literature Database
By Süleyman Saritas and Alan Lawley
This fully searchable CD spans over 4 decades of literature! The database is a
comprehensive literature review of a collection of more than 4, 500 publications embracing
the processing and properties of P/M ferrous materials. This important research tool
allows the user to search by material, property, and process to arrive at relevant
articles in a click of the keyboard.
The task was initiated by performing a literature search via several electronic
databases. Subsequently, the major P/M Journals worldwide were scanned to identify
pertinent publications. Proceedings of national and international P/M conferences were
included as well. To facilitate accuracy in sorting, the "experimental
procedures" and "results" sections of each publication were reviewed.
Classification in terms of material type and properties, was based on MPIF "Standard
35, Materials Standards for P/M Structural Parts".
The major utility of the database lies in its ability to identify publications
relating to a given P/M ferrous material in terms of processing conditions and attendant
properties. Letter codes are used to differentiate between processing details
(a,b,c,d,
) and specific properties (A,B, C, D,
). Material type is described by
a number (1,2,3,4,
). A search using Edit/Find shows the number of occurrences of any
name, word or phrase in the text. The CD also includes a list of sources where the user can
find the major worldwide P/M Publishers and their contact information.
