Metal Additive Manufacturing Conference Issues Call for Presentations

An official call for presentations has been announced for AMPM2018: Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy, June 17–20, 2018. This leading North American metal additive manufacturing (AM) conference will take place at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Texas, and will feature top industry experts in this fast-growing field.

Outstanding Technical Paper Authors Recognized

The 2016 Howard I Sanderow Outstanding Technical Paper Award was given to Neal P. Kraus, graduate student (now employed by Hoeganaes Corporation); Richard L. Hexemer, Jr., principal engineer, GKN Sinter Metals; Ian W. Donaldson, FAPMI, director of advanced engineering applications, GKN Sinter Metals, LLC; and D. Paul Bishop, professor, Dalhousie University; for their paper "Consolidation of Aerospace-Grade Aluminum 7055 Powder Via Sinter-Forge Processing." The paper was selected from among the highly qualified manuscripts that were presented at the POWDERMET2016 conference in Boston and critically evaluated for the prestigious award. The authors were officially recognized during the Industry Luncheon held during POWDERMET2017 in Las Vegas.

Metal Injection Molding Conference Call for Presentations

An official call for presentations has been announced for MIM2018: International Conference on Injection Molding of Metals, Ceramics and Carbides, March 5–7, 2018. This international conference and tabletop exhibition will take place in Irvine, California, at the Hotel Irvine. Authors have until September 29, 2017, to submit their presentation abstract. All abstracts accepted for presentation will require a PowerPoint submission prior to the conference.

Award-Winning Powder Metal Parts

The winners in the 2017 Powder Metallurgy (PM) Design Excellence Awards competition, sponsored by the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), demonstrate outstanding examples of PM's diversity. These component fabricators use PM's flexibility to push forward new concepts and process controls and demonstrate the inexhaustible well of capabilities PM can marshal in the service of component design. Designers continue to choose PM for critical applications such as auto engines and transmissions, medical devices, consumer products, military applications, and more.

Eight Grand Prizes and ten Awards of Distinction have been given in this year's competition.

2017 Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Awards Announced

The Metal Powder Industries Federation's (MPIF) Awards Committee has announced the recipients of the 2017 MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy (PM) Award that recognizes individuals who have actively served the North American PM industry for at least 25 years and, in the minds of their peers, deserve special recognition.
